The Rather Large Yellow Mantua…
We have now got a date to study this mantua at the National Museums Collection centre in Edinburgh.

The petticoat on this gown is one of the largest we’ve seen – the frontage around the 3 mt mark, and she must have felt amazing sweeping into the state rooms as she entered the presence of royalty.
As per usual, our Study sessions will include recording all the stitches used in this gown, taking a pattern, making our drawings, clicking away on our camera, and finally, going back to base and creating a replica. We estimate we will be able to work on this gown sometime next year as this year will be concentrating on the Shrewsbury Mantua, a yellow nightgown for studying techniques and an early 1720s mantua from the V&A.
